Principal Responsibilities:

- Assist service users with all personal care needs, including undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting needs.

- Support service users with mobility problems and other physical disabilities, including incontinence, and help with the use and care of aids and personal equipment.

- Provide care for service users who are at the end of life.

- Engage in promoting the mental and physical well-being of service users by talking to them, taking them out, and participating in activities such as reading, writing, hobbies, and recreations.

- Perform domestic tasks in the household, including making and changing beds.

- If required, assist with service users' laundry, including operating a washing machine when necessary.

- Read and write reports, and participate in staff and service users' meetings and training activities as directed.

- Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

- Comply with Wetherby Home Care’s policies and procedures at all times, which includes adhering to the service users' care plans.

- Report any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user to the registered manager.

- Raise any safeguarding concerns with management.

- Encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.

- All staff must attend mandatory training where appropriate, including induction and National Vocational Qualifications or their equivalent.

- Assist service users in maintaining as much autonomy and independence as possible in their daily lives.

- Support service users by identifying risks and documenting the support plan to minimize and manage these risks.

- Agree on and record the needs, wishes, and preferences of service users and how these will be met.

- Identify and support service users with capacity and those who lack capacity appropriately.

- Record all decisions related to service users who lack capacity properly.

- Involve and consult with service users, their families, representatives, or advocates to ensure that the service users’ views are expressed and acted upon.

- Attend care reviews as necessary.

- Continuously update and improve practices through mutually agreed methods, which may include attending staff meetings, learning support briefings, and one-on-one supervision.

- Collaborate with the line manager to identify further learning opportunities.

- Stay informed about requirements regarding codes of practice and conduct issued by professional bodies.

- Understand the Outcomes and Regulations defined by the Essential Standards of Health and Safety issued by the Care Quality Commission.

- Promote good practice and remain vigilant in recognizing and reporting practices that do not meet defined standards.

- Assist and contribute to any inspections or monitoring visits by regulatory bodies.

- Comply with the company’s Privacy Policy.

Hours: 7 AM - 2 PM or 3 PM - 10 PM.
